Coiled Tubing (CT) Operations

Used to prevent corrosion during acid pumping through coiled tubing strings, which are highly prone to localized corrosion due to high pressure, acid turbulence, and temperature.

• Recommended Dosage:
  1.0 – 2.0% v/v of total acid volume (e.g., 10–20 L per 1000 L acid)

• Recommended Acid Type:
  15–28% Hydrochloric Acid (HCl)

• Bottomhole Temperature Range:
  Effective up to 180°C

• Notes:
  Blend into acid just before pumping; circulate through CT during pressure buildup.

Matrix Acidizing / Bullheading

For protection of casing, tubing, and surface iron when injecting acid to stimulate carbonate or sandstone formations.

• Recommended Dosage:
  0.5 – 1.5% v/v, depending on:

  • HCl concentration (higher acid → higher dosage)

  • Metallurgy (carbon steel vs. 13Cr)

  • Temperature

• Sequence:

  1. Preflush: water or brine

  2. Main flush: HCl + RXSOL ACIDCORR SHIELD 81

  3. Overflush: brine with corrosion inhibitor (optional)

High-Temperature Acid Jobs (>120°C)

Used in deep well stimulations where temperature can degrade traditional film-forming inhibitors.

• Recommended Dosage:
  1.5 – 2.0% v/v

• Formulation Note:
  Add iron control agents and scale inhibitors as needed; verify compatibility.

Acid Cleaning of Process Equipment (Pipes, Vessels, Reactors)

Protects internal metal surfaces from acid attack during scale or rust removal.

• Recommended Dosage:
  0.5 – 1.0% v/v in 10–15% HCl

• Contact Time:
  30–60 minutes recirculation

• Note:
  Use nonionic surfactant system for better metal wetting and dispersion.

Hydrotesting (with acidified water or brine)

For preserving pipelines, tanks, or tubing during hydrotests that use low-strength acidified water.

• Recommended Dosage:
  0.25 – 0.5% v/v in low-concentration HCl or brine

• Duration:
  6–48 hours exposure

Continuous Injection in Water or Hydrocarbon Systems

Where constant corrosion control is needed in pipelines or injection systems with acid ingress risk.

• Recommended Dosage:
  10–50 ppm continuous injection

• Note:
  Suitable for batch or continuous dosing using chemical injection pumps.
