GUANIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE
GUANIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE
Guanidine is indicated for the reduction of the symptoms of muscle weakness and easy fatigability associated with the myasthenic syndrome of Eaton-Lambert. It is not indicated for treating myasthenia gravis.
Guanidine hydrochloride is also available as an orally administered human drug. Its use is for the treatment of muscle weakness and easy fatigue caused by a rare disease known as the myasthenic syndrome of Eaton-Lambert, which is associated with small-cell carcinoma of the lung.
Guanidine Hydrochloride is a strong chaotropic agent useful for the denaturation and subsequent refolding of proteins. This strong denaturant can solubilize insoluble or denatured proteins such as inclusion bodies and be used for the recovery of periplasmic proteins.
